Good news from both the Crazy Rich People Shit desk, and the Vanity Fair Doesn’t Write Profiles Of Crazy Rich People Anymore desk: On Wednesday, VF dropped a major piece about recently de-engaged Crazy Rich Person Rupert Murdoch. It is ALL CAPS JUICY — the kind of classic Vanity Fair cover story that would be ideal to read by the pool, and there’s an incredible amount of gossip in there to digest, but the most immediate takeaway is that Rupert Murdoch absolutely is Logan Roy. Or vice-versa. I don’t care what the Succession team says; the parallels between the Roy siblings and the Murdoch ones are absolute1. Please note that this is not a ding on the creativity of Succession. We did, after all, write two books based on the British royal family. Real life rich people drama is a deep well of inspo.
