From Love Island to...Edith Wharton???

Last week, we discussed Gwyneth Paltrow listing her Santa Barbara guesthouse on Airbnb – maybe for charity, but who can say. Now Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have jumped on the bandwagon, listing their Santa Barbara guesthouse on Airbnb. In this case, per Domino, “Airbnb will make a onetime donation to Thorn¹, an organization using AI to eliminate child sexual abuse from the Internet, in honor of the visit.” The impetus behind this particular celeb listing is less oblique than Gwyneth’s, and also perhaps slightly less philanthropically driven than it might appear, given that Kutcher is an investor in Airbnb and all this celeb guesthouse action is giving the brand positive (or at least intrigued) press at a time when Airbnb is getting widespread criticism for contributing to the housing crisis.
