Forget who won what, and who was snubbed; the most important awards season post-mortem is rating the best and worst red carpet step-and-repeats. I’m pleased to report that, unlike last year, nothing was so objectively terrible that it threw me into a tizzy. And yet! There continue to be confounding choices made, and room to improve.
The Golden Globes:
I’m pleased to note that the Globes took my advice from last year and trashed one of their three backdrops – and it was the one I suggested they lose. They saved last year’s cream floral backdrop and repeated (or recreated it) almost exactly, although they changed up the font to one that I actually like better. I am going to raise once again, however, my argument that the cream and pink flowers behind the gold signage lack contrast with said sign. However!
