In which I finally get to tell George Russell, “I told you so!” Let’s not waste any time here, friends. Bertha and George are getting upset!!!
THE RUSSELLS:
Last week ended with the legitimately shocking reveal that Bertha’s Nefarious Ladies Maid Turner has gotten herself married to a real rich old dude and is now a Fancy Society Lady. Naturally, there are many reverberations from this revelation. Bertha’s first take is that she needs to get in good with the Wintertons in order to boost the cause of the Metropolitan Opera House, even if Old Money Winterton did run off with her evil scheming ruthless ladies maid. Besides, Bertha thinks she has the upper hand because Turner won’t want anyone to know that she used to be In Service. (Bertha is underestimating Turner, clearly, but she also doesn’t know the full extent of Turner’s Turnerness, in her defense.)
So she invites Turner to yet another event she’s having in suppor…
