The pleasures of Only Murders In the Building, plus J.Lo influences Heather
Wanna hear some good news? The third season of Only Murders in the Building dropped on Hulu last week, and three episodes in, it is once again a delight. If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s essentially a cozy mystery series that somehow isn’t set in a small British village with an alarmingly high crime rate, but rather in a TREMENDOUS posh New York City apartment building called the Arconia… with an alarmingly high crime rate. The Arconia is based on (and partially filmed at) The Belnord, an actual co-op in New York, the fascinating history of which was covered in this great piece in The New York Times. (That’s a gifted link.) The Arconia has secret passages and hidden doors and a revolving cast of rich celebrities playing amusing asshole versions of themselves and every apartment in it is gloriously decorated1. I want to move in, except it seems likely I’d be murdered there.
