I don’t know about you, but as we head toward the winter of the year — also known as actual winter, I guess — my mind turns to one thing: GLASS. We wouldn’t have champagne coups, Christmas ornaments, or festive serving platters without it!1 Glass looks like ice and winter is icy! I’m pretty sure “glass” was slang for some kind of drug I learned about on Miami Vice as a child and nothing alternately fills me with more childlike wonder and makes me wish I was doing hard drugs like the holidays! In other words: This fresh edition of Enter Through the Gift Shop — the Drinks With Broads feature where we virtually (or physically!) visit the most intriguing museum stores of the world and examine their finest and/or kookiest wares — is taking a field trip to Corning, New York, to visit its Museum of Glass. Obviously.
