Are We Entering an Era of 'Law'lessness?
On that retirement announcement, Nancy Meyers, and True Lies. (No, not all at once.)
Usually around this time of year, we’re lolling around in an Oscars hangover, but superstar stylist Law Roach knocked that out of the news cycle like Alexis Carrington furiously sweeping everything off a desk:
You have to click to read the caption, but the gist is right there in the red stamp, and not a prank: His Instagram post namechecked “[t]he politics, the lies and false narratives” as what “finally got [him],” and said he was dipping out for good. Now, in the words of the prophet Ferris Bueller, life moves pretty fast; about an hour after we thought we’d put this newsletter to bed on Wednesday, Law walked in the Boss runway show in Miami and gave an interview to Vogue. So, rather than trying to guess any further at what’s happening, we’ll take you through the last 48 hours of news-cycle cartwheels and try to land together on the same mat he did.

We figured he was just having a bad experience with other clients he didn’t gel with as naturally as with Lady Z, or that he planned to pursue more TV gigs, or magazine styling1, or develop a line of his own after his recent collaborations with Herve Leger. Maybe, we thought, this would be a Tom Brady situation where Law spent a couple of weeks relaxing at home, realized he didn’t have anything in common with Gisele and that she has started eating strawberries or some other unforgivable natural sugar in his absence, and decided he wanted to go back to work. Or… maybe he was really dunzo. With all of it.
That Zendaya Question loomed large deep into Wednesday. Zendaya is rumored
