And Just Like That..., Carrie Does Something Useful
A much shorter episode (mostly) (sort of) pays dividends.
I try to keep the spoilers out of the headlines even though this is many days old now, but you’ve clicked in so I don’t have to swallow it anymore: DING DONG, THE DINGDONG’S GONE. Carrie finally, finally, gets angry at Aidan and finally, finally, dumps his shaggy ass right there on the — finally, finally — New York City sidewalk. It makes sense, it plays on their history (written by the same women who scripted their season 4 Sex and the City breakup), and he 100 percent deserves it. After wasting 75 percent of the season on this doomed coupling, Carrie cannot fight it anymore: The Ick hits her like a tsunami.
This episode came in at a brisk 28 minutes, far more in line with the length of the original Sex and the City. I agree with the online theories that this was originally part of the previous episode, but that it ran long so they carved off the end and built it into a new episode either by shooting filler to pad it out, or stealing bits from the next episode.
