Zac Posen (??) Falls Into The Gap (!)

The most unexpected news broke Monday: Zac Posen has fallen into The Gap. Specifically, Posen, who made his name with beautifully cut red-carpet gowns before shuttering his eponymous company in 2019, is now the creative director at Gap Inc., per Vogue Business.
Posen will be the first to oversee design across Gap Inc’s four brands: Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta and Old Navy, where he’s also taking on the additional role of chief creative officer.
I’m sincerely happy for Posen for landing a splashy new gig that presumably pays big money; everyone’s got bills, and my theory has long been that some of these designers are living a lifestyle that they perhaps don’t have the capital to support. But this is a surprising turn of events both for a company chiefly associated with moderately priced denim, and for a glam-forward designer who created this astonishing light-up number on Claire Danes at the 2016 Met Gala, as well as Princess Eugenie’s wedding reception dress, this Liu Wen masterwork,…
