I’ve joked for the past few weeks that Harmony Cobel has been too busy rage-speeding around the state, gritting her teeth and wincing, to participate in the action… and that is in fact exactly right. This Cobel-centered installment both begins AND ends with Harmony pinning the accelerator to the floor like a tail on the donkey, includes an angry vehicular face-off and her being rage chauffeured by someone else, and marinates in existential misery the rest of the time. On the heels of our Gemma episode, which made us hurt for her in Dichen Lachman’s capable hands, we get “Sweet Vitriol” — a short and unsweet vacation on which Patricia Arquette is our cruise director. And it does kind of make life at Lumon look like The Love Boat by comparison.
