Happy Opening Day! After a long winter, as sure as the sun rising in the morning or the swallows returning to San Capistrano — do people who don’t live in California use that reference? Probably not — baseball is back. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, the smell of hot dogs and beer, the people arguing on your team’s subreddit about whether the season is already over after you’ve lost three games in a row in late April. It’s glorious!
There are always a ton of open questions as the season kicks off, of course: Did the guy coming back from Tommy John surgery lose any velocity on his fastball? Is this new kid playing first base any good? Will our City Connect jerseys be hideous? (I’m a Dodgers fan and our City Connect jerseys are always incredibly reasonable because the team is very protective of their classic branding.)
