Well, Tatler has at last come undone, and exactly in the way I’ve been wanting: It’s featuring a grand home for sale that’s not previously owned by Jane Austen or something similarly romantique but which is instead… a famous murder house. Good news! The place has got a moat! Bad news: Once Queen Elizabeth: Original Sauce took a shine to him, Robert Dudley might have had his wife Amy pushed down the back stairs. Adding insult to injury, it was her house!
That Dudley was a total drama magnet. He was also suspected of poisoning one of his other lovers’ other lovers, and that lover — his, rather — was also rumored to have successfully turned around poisoned Dudley later in their relationship (they were married at this point) because she was worried he was going to kill her because she was then seeing someone else! (But in actuality I think he just died of malaria.) (I think I’ve got that right.) (That was a lot of poisonings.) This isn’t even getting into all the Mary, Queen of Scots stuf…
