First off: I’M GONNA KILL AGNES IF SHE RUINS THIS FOR ADA. Like Bates before me, I will want to MURDER.

Having said that: This season of The Gilded Age feels SO much more assured, (mostly) better-paced, better-costumed, and frankly just more fun than last season. (And I liked last season!) I laughed out loud more than once this week. How enjoyable to see a show start to really hit its stride. Let’s get into it.

The Van Rhijn/Brooks Household

Dearly beloved, allow me to begin with our most BLESSED NEWS: That of Aunt Ada’s Late-in-Life Romance. First off, Ada hosts a tea for Reverend Robert Sean Leonard’s missionary friends, where he says the sentence “Greece was my favorite… of all my mission trips,” and the way we came into that sentence, I really thought it was going to turn out to be “Grease was my favorite… of all of Travolta’s films.” They also have a very sweet convo about his missionary work and how Ada still really wants to travel and he tells her there’s “so much [she] can still…
