The Best, Worst, Least and Mosts of the 2025 Tony Awards
Happy Tuesday! (Also: Chess. The musical, not the game.)
The Tony Awards aired on Sunday night — thanks to everyone who joined us in the chat! — and, as always, it was an almost completely pleasant viewing experience. CBS’s sound mix was as muddled and messy as usual (at this point, they must not care how it sounds to viewers at home), and it’s frustrating that so many important awards are given during the pre-show that’s only televised on Pluto TV. But the Tonys crowd is always so exuberant and loving and respectful, and bursting with delightful Theater Kid energy. How can you not want to be part of it? And, mic problems aside, we’re never going to complain about a show that features David Hyde Pierce, Jinkx Monsoon, and Ramin Karimloo dancing with this many washboards:
