Wow, what an Oscars that was, from some exhilarating highs -- Da’Vine Joy Randolph’s emotion, the thrill of “I’m Just Ken” -- to some points of tension (Emma Stone winning, and her poker face slipping and her looking horrified), to some surprisingly effective comedy AND a historic short runtime. Now, when we say “short,” we obviously mean, “finished five or so minutes inside of its bloated 3:30 scheduled run time,” but since when do the Oscars go LIGHT on their own bloat?!? Hopefully by the time this is published, we’ll know if that’s actually a record.
Best Re-Hire: God bless Christian Siriano, whom E! invited to be part of its round-table discussion during the red carpet for the second year in a row. And, as noted last year, he remains the only person on that network willing to be even mildly critical when the situation called for it.
