It’s hard to guess which shows everyone will want to discuss and dissect, but with Severance and The White Lotus on our lists, The Pitt — airing concurrently with both — wasn’t even in consideration. Maybe it should have been; maybe it will be. Because the 15-episode season, which uses a 24-like realtime format to get through one hella long overtime shift in a Pittsburgh emergency room, ended up being engrossing, excellent, juicy television that reminded me how exhilarating it can be when everyone in the game — both behind the cameras and the scenes, and in front of them — is at the top of theirs.
