Someone Dies, Someone Is Scammed!
And someone's Mom is trying to set her up! All in this episode of The Gilded Age
Friends! We have arrived at the penultimate episode of this second season of The Gilded Age — which may, I suppose, be its last, given that, as of this writing, Max has not renewed it. I’m sure it is expensive to produce, but I’ll certainly be bummed if next week’s episode is the last one ever. My question: Are we gonna get a season finale that works adequately as a series one as well, or are Fellowes et al. going to Models Inc this?1 If we leave Bertha Russell tied up in Turner’s basement (or something) for all eternity, I’m going to be so mad!
But let’s focus on what did happen. First of all, you need to know that the background of this episode is the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, and every single set is so covered in bunting that I originally thought it was the 4th of July. (The Bridge actually opened on May 24, 1883.) Second, as a general note: Everyone in this show, at some point, got to enjoy a huge fireworks display.
