Bonus Issue: Severance Serves Up a Fruit Head

With the first White Lotus recap going up tomorrow, I decided to pump out Severance so that we can talk about it before Thursday’s episode, with the intent of switching to weekly with these as we gun toward the finale. This week’s Severance gave us insight into two things: monthly performance reviews, which come with expensive-looking custom brochures on only the finest paper stock, and the slightly less extravagant bereavement kit for when an employee passes — that involves mugs, disturbing fruit carvings, a sign made on Print Shop (I assume) and that old-school paper with the holes on the edges that you have to tear away using the perforations, and an entire nine-second moment of silence to honor the departed. And as bizarrely grisly as Irving B.’s watermelon head was, and as much as I in fact hate watermelon, I would prefer all of that to a performance review in which Inexplicably Icelandic Drummond lays bare my faults with office supplies and then hands me souvenir paperwork.
