Severance: Let's Dissect The First Two Episodes of S2

We are BACK in the Lumon building, at long last, with much to discuss and a surprising amount of pineapples on offer. I told myself we wouldn’t do weekly recaps, and that I’d just bang out a short details post about the first two episodes of Severance so that we could all trade theories, and then… I started writing this, and a) it’s often easier to explain this sequentially, b) it’s hard to know what details to cut, and c) short!!! THAT IS HILARIOUS, HEATHER. Easily the funniest thing I have ever written.

Each episode covers the same basic timeframe, but from the disparate perspectives: the aftermath of last season for the innies, and the aftermath for the outies. When you isolate each side, you get an acute sense of how truly abridged their lives are. For the innies, existing is just a series of elevator dings and labyrinthine white walls. They never get to see anything else. Where is Mark getting his Vitamin D, for God’s sake?!? And for the outies, life is still whatever shit you wer…
