Olympics Day 2 (7/27): What Will Katie Ledecky Do?
"Make it to the 400m final" is, ideally, the first thing to cross off her list.
Our chat from the Opening Ceremony was fabulous; thank you all for coming, and for enduring four hours of extremely uneven entertainment leading up to THIS:
Celine Dion performed her heart out — to a pre-recorded version; Le Figaro reports all the performers used them for the cleanest audio and to avoid as many glitches as possible. But they all seemed to be all singing along into dead mics, and I will hand it to the Queen: Her synch with the recording was FLAWLESS and the best of the night. I sorta thought it sounded like a slightly younger Celine singing; I wonder if they used a song she’d recorded earlier in her career, though obviously I hope her voice truly has returned so robustly. Either way, just being able to get there and get through it in ANY capacity is such a victory for her. The last scene of her documentary stuck with me profoundly.
