Olympics Day 11 (8/5): Simone Biles Has Two More Routines To Go...
....and we say bonjour to synchronized swimming! Plus: There's a triathlon mixed relay?!?!
WELL! This was an extremely thrilling weekend, right? I’ve never seen a race as close, or as thrilling, as the men’s 100m yesterday. I’m still vibrating from how exciting it was, and can’t wait to see Noah Lyles go for the double with the 200m — which is actually his better event. (It’s Thursday, although the heats are today.) We also said farewell to the swimming in fine fashion, as the Americans set a world record in the men’s 1500m and the always-thrilling women’s 4x100 medley relay, plus got a silver in the men’s. Suni Lee won a bronze medal in an amazingly strong uneven bars competition. Kristen Faulkner won the gold in the women’s road race — which has such a scenic route; I cannot stop yapping about how pretty it is — for the Americans for the first time since 1984! (In less thrilling news, a Belgian triathlete might have caught e.coli from swimming in the Seine and has to pull out of the mixed tri relay. As of my typing, this diagnosis isn’t…
