Back to the world’s most stressful comedy!!! Don’t get mad at me; I think this show is great. But constantly funny hah-hah it is not — although I do think that this second pair of episodes was funny hah-hah-ier than the previous two. In last week’s batch of recaps, fellow Broad Morgan noted in the comments that she thought the award-giving academies should consider moving from pure Comedy/Drama categories and into Longform Comedy, Longform Drama, Shortform Comedy, Shortform Drama and I tend to agree, with a question for the commentariat: In the ideal version of theoretical change, who decides what each show is? Because if I’m The Bear and I get to choose where I’m submitting, I might stay in Comedy because I think I can win. (I think The Bear wins regardless, but you feel me.) Or if would it be one of those things where the Emmy people can be like, “GET OUTTA HERE, BILL HADER! BARRY IS A SHORTFORM DRAMA NOW!
