'And Just Like That' Gets a Little Raunchier

In a lot of ways, the most recent episode of And Just Like That is the closest spiritual cousin we’ve had to Sex and the City — which puts the showrunners in an interesting bind because for such a long time they complained that viewers wouldn’t let AJLT be its own thing, even though it was obviously riding on that fandom, and now they’re attempting to lean back into familiar territory. If you read that New Yorker profile of Sarah Jessica Parker, this is the episode it mentioned in which Carrie and Charlotte talk about jizz, which of course they do at lunch, and yes, there is a mayonnaise joke.

Episode 4, “ALIVE!”, is also rife with cameos, from Bitsy von Muffling again to Candice Bergen’s Enid Frick of Vogue, to actual Gloria Steinem, to Lando Calrissian, to Victor “Spy Daddy” Garber. And Steve! On the theme of the episode: They sure blew their guest-star wad.
