The Strike Is Over! The Met Gala Is Themed! The Sexiest Man Is Named!

Before we get to the meat of the newsletter: Congratulations to all the members of SAG-AFTRA on the (apparent) end of the 118-day strike, a grueling but necessary and brave labor action that FINALLY concluded with a deal both sides accepted yesterday evening. This deal still has to be ratified, but for current intents and purposes, the strike concluded at midnight and Los Angeles can go back to trying to get people PAID and now Timothee Chalamet has NO EXCUSE to dodge talking about Wonka when he hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend. Sorry, Timmee. At least you’re not Jason Momoa; HE now has to talk about Aquaman 2.
It remains to be seen what, if any, TV can actually rev up and shoot in time for the early part of 2024 (my household hopes the answer is, “PLENTY”). But you can bet we’ll get a rapid-fire awards push for a lot of the movies that haven’t been able to campaign for Oscars with their actors, like Killers of the Flower Moon — I can’t wait to see more indigenous designers’ work…
