Vanity Fair Whiffs Another Hollywood Issue!
Plus the biggest Thanksgiving reads of the 1980s, and All's Fair takes on All Her Fault.
Last week, the New York Times dared to ask the brave, super necessary question, “Did Women Ruin the Workplace?”1 I wonder if the editors at Vanity Fair saw that, looked at each other in silence, gulped, and then cursed the shadow that cast on their Hollywood Issue:
Yes, let’s hear it for them! Finally, we are giving men a voice! It’s about time they had their moment in the sun!!! The Times thing is a total coincidence, obviously, and this may never have been warmly embraced, but it sure didn’t help that the Paper of Record had just announced that women fucked shit up for everyone by trying to have JOBS and be TREATED FAIRLY. Something about leading men probably would’ve been a perfectly cromulent idea for an interior feature, but it’s blinkered and embarrassing as a cover.
