I have mixed feelings about game twists. Admittedly, sometimes they make for a satisfying scene, like in this past season of Survivor when a guy played his Shot in the Dark and it worked AND negated every single person voting him off. Other times, it’s a lot of sound and fury over very little, like in this past season of Survivor when that same guy simply got voted off the following week instead, meaning his gambit changed very little. And then you get the instances when it fully negates the actual events of the episode, like, yes, a season of Survivor where one contestant literally did rewind and reverse the outcome of an entire f’ing challenge — Jeff Probst has borked that game with all his idols and surprises — or when this past season of Big Brother tried way too hard to keep two specific contestants in the game, to the point where they undid a double eviction for a full week and went something like a whole month without actually eliminating anyone.
