My big note at the top of my, er, smaller notes about these two episodes just says SEXISM!!!!! Ted Lasso Season Four is very concerned with making sure we know it knows that a lot of people are really weird and sexist and dismissive and terrible about women’s sports and that THAT IS WRONG.
Now, OBVIOUSLY, sexism directed toward women’s sports is very real — as a woman, I am well aware!! — and I don’t want the show to ignore this, nor pretend this injustice isn’t a fact of life and a potentially very real spoiler to this undertaking, but I’m not sure the balance is totally right yet. The shareholders’ meeting in the third episode here hits really similar notes to the news conference the previous week, and overall, given the huge success of the women’s World Cup and women’s soccer at the Olympics, it feels a little weird that almost ALL the men that the Greyhounds folks run into are like GROSS, GIRLS CAN’T PLAY SOCCER BOOOOOOO.
