Hello! It's Your SAG Awards Open Thread!

If you're around this Saturday, come on by!

Guess what? It’s true: The SAG Awards are today, a Saturday, even though we all made a silent agreement, as a society, that Sunday is a superior Awards Show Day. Monday, if need be. (The Oscars, of course, used to be on Monday; the Emmys are occasionally on a Monday because of football; and the Met Gala, obviously, is on Monday, but the Met is a whole other beast.) Perhaps a Wednesday if you’re a country music-oriented program. But Saturday? No. The Independent Spirit Awards used to be on Saturday because they’re specifically Not Like Other Awards Shows — I presume; it feels true, right? — but even they have seen the error of their ways and moved to Sunday. Literally: They’re tomorrow.

Despite all that, here we are! Perhaps we should just be grateful that this year, the SAGs have a home on actual Netflix, as opposed to last year, when they were jankily ported over to Netflix’s YouTube Channel.
