Happy Holiday Hodgepodge, Broads!

We've got Emily, the Reiners, Stereophonic, awards season, Amy Schumer, Tony Geary, and a poll. Phew!

It was an atrocious weekend in the world, capped by the tragic murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. The Los Angeles Times wrote an obituary for Singer Reiner, which is touching because it acknowledges her personhood outside of being the wife of someone very famous; Singer Reiner was a photographer and later a producer, and she and Rob Reiner were very much involved in social justice causes. Famously, her photograph of Donald Trump is on the cover of The Art of the Deal, of which Rob often joked, “She has a lot to atone for.” She also, per Rob, inspired him to change the ending of When Harry Met Sally, the movie on which he and Michele met. How lovely to make a movie about two people finding each other, and having life imitate it.

This one hit hard because we all know Rob Reiner as an absolute legend, both in filmmaking and when he chose to work in front of the camera. If you’ve ever seen Sleepless in Seattle, you’ll remember him giving Tom Hanks dating advice, makin…
