FINALLY. Awards season is over and I can turn to my true passion: rating its step-and-repeats. If you are new here, every year I look at the red-carpet backdrops of each major awards show and grade them. Here’s last year’s post, and here is the inaugural one, when the SAG Awards gave me a full melt-down (they completely bounced back the next year, proving that actors — and the Actors — can at least take a note). This year, my most pressing question is: Will the Critics Choice Awards — which got a D in 2024 and an execrable D- last year — manage to pull itself out of the absolute basement?
