Michael Patrick King: Nope.
Writers: What about—
MPK: Nope.
Writers: Themes of…
MPK: Nope.

MPK: Poop.
HBO: Togetherness and poop?
MPK: No, just poop.

Honestly, on some level, I have to hand it to Michael Patrick King. He sank this ship with gusto. This may have been one of the worst episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Series finale, season finale, no matter; as a concept of a plan, to air at any point in space and time, it was lousy, but I am shocked he actually wanted people to think he wrote this with intention, space, and foreknowledge. Because if he did, it’s inexcusable, and frankly disrespectful to the source material, the original series, the remaining loyal audience, the actors, and pretty much anyone with eyeballs.
