Amy Spalding Discusses Writing Queer Joy, Researching Her New Book, and Grey's Anatomy
Plus, we review a very expensive cold coffee machine and are still talking about figure skating.
Today, we are so delighted to have an interview with author Amy Spalding, the writer behind the absolutely charming and extremely fun Out in Hollywood series — the final installment of which, In Her Spotlight, is out today. To quote the bio on her website:
Amy Spalding is the author of several novels, including the bestselling For Her Consideration, We Used to Be Friends, and The Summer of Jordi Perez (and the Best Burger in Los Angeles), which was named a best book of 2018 by NPR, the Boston Globe, Kirkus Reviews, and more. She is a recipient of the 2023 Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award for the authentic, funny, and diverse representation of the LGBTQ+ community in her books.
She also loves Diet Coke, has a great newsletter detailing what she wears every day, and is one of the only people we know who is also still watching Grey’s Anatomy. If you’re in the market for a freelance book editor, she’s also a pro in that arena. Let’s get into her newest novel!
